Chyna became interested in reading at a very young age, being around people that were always reading. Her mother specifically was a big reason she had picked up the hobby, constantly reading to her or reading alone in the living room. Over the summer she read around 4 books asking for it, the subtle art of not giving a f, behind closed doors, and trust no one. Also she read a few poetry books being milk and honey, the whiskey words and a shovel series, the princess saves herself in this one, and a beautiful composition of broken. Last school year she was able to read around 16-18 books between class and her choice. She is currently not reading a book right now because she has not had time to look for one. Her favorite authors are R.H Sin, James Patterson, and Stephen King. In her house there is around 200 books. Chyna is a reader who gets lost in books and once she starts one she has to finish and hear the ending. Over the last couple years she has grown as a reader a lot in comprehension, understanding the novel, and how often and fast she reads.
Chyna enjoys writing besides when she is told to write. She often saves class papers for the night before but still receives good comments on them. She learned to write in school and from reading books. She loved creative writing when she was younger and often learned new ways to write through other books such as The Magic Treehouse series. There are many reasons people enjoy writing such as getting an escape from reality, getting a point across, being able to express themselves, or to help others understand things. In all honesty Chyna, is not sure what it takes to be a good writer. She knows that understanding grammar rules and literary elements are a good start. Most of the writing pieces Chyna does she figures out very slowly and stresses about for a couple days until the idea hits her. Sometimes she takes ideas from personal experiences or dreams. The comments that help Chyna grow the most are when they point out a flaw and give ways to fix it. As a writer Chyna feels confident in her writing but feels like she could grow. Over the years Chyna has grown a lot in her writing with being more expressive and open in her papers and has learned new skills throughout other English classes.
